Happy wali diwali ....

Before Crackers starts to sound,

and rockets Rebound,

Before tummy is filled with sweets,

and heart shouts with greets,

Before networks are jammed with emails,

and mobiles are crammed with SMS/MMSes,

Let me hold this moment in the Fabric of Space and Time

to Greet You all "A Very Happy Diwali"

What if there is no tommorow ?

Sunday night, fatigued coz of too much shopping, sat with roomie and started "Kal ho na Ho" once again...As the movie proceeds, sentiyap takes over...and the feel of doing whatever desired right now...coz What if there is no tommorow ?

So folks, think of the task which were long pending, do them today, enjoy the the life a bit more today itself...

Think....

When was the last time you had Poppins ?
When was the last time you had a lolly-pop ?
When was the last time you smiled courageously ?
When was the last time you had a Jhappi from a friend ?
When was the last time you sang a that song in full volume ?
When was the last time you had a standing ovation ?
When was the last time you saw a full moon & counted stars ?
When was the last time you lived the day ?
When was the last time Life lived you ?
When was the last time you smoked sitting on a staircase ?
When was the last time you bunked from office ?
When was the last time you took out your tounge to tease your friend ?
When was the last time you made faces at somebody ?
When was the last time you had a full scoop of your favourite ice-cream in Wafer cone ?
When was the last time you were soaked in Rain and ran on streets like a kid?
When was the last time you cooked your favourite Potato Sandwich, with a glass full of tea ?
When was the last time you winked ?
When was the last time.....

What are you waiting for ? For whom are you earning so much...to die one day RICH ? Ridiculous....Get out of here...Live today...for what if there is no tommorow....

There is so much to look for, live for...and you are spending your days and night just sitting and waiting for angel of Death to arrive and Rescue you..

Dear Since you now a slave to live ...then enjoy this pain of living...and live it with Grace...with your head on your shoulders

Golden Thoughts, Shopping Spree....

It was completely BoldnBeautiful's fault...Ya Ya... She is the culprit and She is supposed to be blamed...GRRRR !!! She was the one who supported my point of view of "diwali or no diwali...shop till you drop..." and here I am...over past 2 months the shopping bill has crossed a Lakh by a very fair margin...Ye folks more than a lakh of hard earned income has been spent...in just shopping...

The current CC bill is more than 50K..and though there is euphoria, a sense of gratification, and thoughts of Being able to hold Life like Hirdu has always holded..what I have bought for myself...A single pair of Nike shoes (Rs 1049/-) and a pair of T-Shirt (Rs 249/- each) ... then where is all the money being spent :)....

Well, I hope it's well spent...Gold this time somehow Mesmerised me :) so a chunk is spent in that...and then since I am going home, thus there is whole stroller full of Sarees and Gifts to Mom and Dad...and there is my naughty brother....and again he is at the Receiving end...Arre Yaar uska Bird-day that 14 Oct ko and me being the "BIG Brother" something has to go to him also...and then I was about to shift the house and for me the most important place is Kitchen so it's supposed to be fully furnished...and Utensils are so costly now a days....

2 Vessels of "Futura" costed more than 1500/- and then since I wanted a Induction plate for cooking this time...it came out to be near 5k...still after spending more then 17K for kitchen alone...there are things I forgot to buy last weekend :((

anyhow the list is pretty long...But there is bit of Respite... "BoldnBeautiful" has promised all sponsred evening at "Barista" with all expenses paid for Baskin Robbins ice-cream, whenever we meet.

Grrrr !! Anyhow though this Shopping has completly burned my wallet...there is a sense of gratification and ME BEING BACK..

So Guys and Gals, "Spend today, coz what if there is no tommorow"

The Quarter-Life Crisis

The Quarter-Life Crisis
by unknown

It is when you stop going along with the crowd and start realizing that there are a lot of things about yourself that you didn't know and may or may not like. You start feeling insecure and wonder where you will be in a year or two, but then get scared because you barely know where you are now.

You start realizing that people are selfish and that, maybe, those friends that you thought you were so close to aren't exactly the greatest people you have ever met and the people you have lost touch with are some of the most important ones. What you do not realize is that they are realizing that too and are not really cold or catty or mean or insincere, but that they are as confused as you.

You look at your job. It is not even close to what you thought you would be doing or maybe you are looking for one and realizing that you are going to have to start at the bottom and are scared.

You miss the comforts of college, of groups, of socializing with the same people on a constant basis. But then you realize that maybe they weren't so great after all.

You are beginning to understand yourself and what you want and do not want. Your opinions have gotten stronger. You see what others are doing and find yourself judging a bit more than usual because suddenly you realize that you have certain boundaries in your life and add things to your list of what is acceptable and what is not. You are insecure and then secure. You laugh and cry with the greatest force of your life. You feel alone and scared and confused. Suddenly change is the enemy and you try and cling on to the past with dear life but soon realize that the past is drifting further and further away and there is nothing to do but stay where you are or move forward.

You get your heart broken and wonder how someone you loved could do such damage to you or you lay in bed and wonder why you can't meet anyone decent enough to get to know better. You love someone but maybe love someone else too and cannot figure out why you are doing this because you are not a bad person.

One night stands and random hook ups start to look cheap and getting wasted and acting like an idiot starts to look pathetic. You go through the same emotions and questions over and over and talk with your friends about the same topics because you cannot seem to make a decision.

You worry about loans and money and the future and making a life for yourself and while wining the race would be great, right now you'd just like to be a contender!

What you may not realize is that everyone reading this relates to it. We are in our best of times and our worst of times, trying as hard as we can to figure this whole thing out.

Happy Birthday and Happy Karvachauth

Yesternight Syed Shastri D Khan called in middle of the night to inform me that today is his birthday...I smiled on my ignorance and stubborness for not maintianing a Birthday book...coz I always thought its too much of a trouble to look each day if somebdy birthday is today or not.

Normally its a tradition in our group to declare whenever one's birthday arrives...though there is a lot which doesnot follow this...but then they are the only one's who keep waiting...rest of us who declare are always happier...

So today is Shastri's Birthday...Shastri is not his family name or sth...its a given name and in technical Security Domain he is known as Syed Shastri D Khan :)

So Shastri Dear happy wala birthday hai jee ...

May ur fridge is always full of Beer,
May ur cupboard is always full of Scotch,
May ur pocket always has a pack of Cig,
May ur lighter always be flaming,
May ur wallet is always full of Cash (so that we can always have parties)
May ur Messenger Girl friend today says "I Love You"
May ur Next Cubicle gorgeous girl come to you with smiling face and ....Rest its yr respo and despo to make up the story,
May u are able to put more Fire in the Fire,
May We ALL SURVIVE TOGETHER.

Next in line is this "Happy Karvachauth" Phenomenon...Early morning "Sandy Paaji aka Gabber" Fame called up and wished me this...I was like why and how come...He said,"Arre kisi RFC mein thode he likha ki ye couples ke liye he hota hai, hum chahte hain yaar dost aur jiyein so here it is "Happy Karvachauth""

Bus phir kya tha...humne bhi saare yaar doston ko phuniya diya with exclaimations of "Happy Karvachauth" and for the common friends who know me and Sandy..it was easy to understand...ki Paaji ne bola hai Happy karvachauth hai to hai...kya fight hai...

So phir Folks "Happy Karvachauth" - May the sense for caring for others always survive. Give a new meaning to this day....For friendship this is the day :)

Men Are Just Happier People

Sandy aka Gabber sent me this and I was elated after a long time :)

What do you expect from such simple creatures? Your last name stays put. The garage is all yours. Wedding plans take care of themselves. Chocolate is just another snack.

You can be President. You can never be pregnant. You can wear a white T-shirt to a water park. You can wear NO shirt to a water park. Car mechanics tell you the truth.

The world is your urinal. You never have to drive to another gas station restroom because this one is just too icky. You don't have to stop and think of which way to turn a nut on a bolt. Same work, more pay. Wrinkles add character. Wedding dress $5000. Tux rental-$100. People never stare at your chest when you're talking to them.

The occasional well-rendered belch is practically expected. New shoes don't cut, blister, or mangle your feet. One mood all the time Phone conversations are over in 30 seconds flat. You know stuff about tanks. A five-day vacation requires only one suitcase. You can open all your own jars.

You get extra credit for the slightest act of thoughtfulness. If someone forgets to invite you, he or she can still be your friend.

Your underwear is $8.95 for a three-pack. Three pairs of shoes are more than enough. You almost never have strap problems in public. You are unable to see wrinkles in your clothes. Everything on your face stays its original color. The same hairstyle lasts for years, maybe decades. You only have to shave your face and neck.

You can play with toys all your life. Your belly usually hides your big hips. One wallet and one pair of shoes one color for all seasons. You can wear shorts no matter how your legs look. You can "do" your nails with a pocket knife. You have freedom of choice concerning growing a mustache.

You can do Christmas shopping for 25 relatives on December 24 in 25 minutes.

No wonder men are happier!

!! Let's have a post !!

Jaane kanha gaye woh din, kehte the teri raah mein nazron ko hum bichanyenge...

anyhow...this was the song I was singing today in the lab....in past few days so much is happening...

shall give you a brief insight...lets see how much everybody can make out....its sth like my previous post only....

Nashe mein kon nahin hai mujhe batayo jara, kise hai hosh mere saamne to layo jara....

tere aane ki khaber sun ker, humne fir khuda ke darwaze dastak di,
Woh aaker aaj phir muskuraya, aur tu sarhad se he wapas ho gayi....

I don't know why, now a days I donot get sleep till alte in the night, it takes a real effort on my part to get some sleep and that is why I feel lazy in office and then have a nap after lunch in Lab it self...some how our lab has become notorious for this...Ppl coming and completing there afternoon nap... :) I dont know how come everybody in office knows about it....Now a days ppl from different teams come to us for a permanent appointment for power nap in Lab :)

anyhow that is how the office is going and at home O lord !! all-together different drama....2 weeks back I was fighting to get a proper rentable house in chennai, now when I got one, there is another tension of furnishing it....As of now the problem is if I furnish it well, like the way I want to ...I shall be shelling out sth in the range of a lakh ...but then till when I shall be here in chennai....The problem is that if I am at India office, I am not profitable...or say not so much profitable for these guys...so I am here so that I get married ASAP and kicked out of the nation to earn profit....so the fight is huge...too much internal fight is going on too much of confusions and too many options...

Another fight is also there...I have started feeling that I need someone to talk to....Since I was living alone...the mobile bills have shot upto 7k per month...every week i shall have a prepaid card of 1500/- and finish it off...talking where...to home, to so called friends and then finally only 3-4 friends with whom I can chit chat anytime and about anything...no mask nothing....

Let's see how to settle this....Lately i was hearing this term...CTC- Cost to Company...then I coined the term...CTY - Cost to yourself....How much one spends in a month to keep oneself happy and delighted...In my case this CTY is huge....ppl say...it's greater than the CTC of huge of Software Engineers...But even then there is huge fight to be happy and chuckling :)

Some new freshers joined the team....O Lord!! the Aptitude level is getting degraded like anything....Ppl donot even know what's the voltage rating we get in house ...when one guy claimed that we get 240 V DC ...I lost control and scolded the whole batch...It's been after 2 year approx that I have lost my TEMPER....I felt bad for 2 days that I lost it....anyhow but after this it took almost a week so that these freshers gain confidence to come and talk freely...after some of these have to take my tasks someday....

Today I am planning to go for Dandiya... :) Lets see how it goes !!

How dare you kiss in Chennai?

How dare you kiss in Chennai?

October 03, 2005 - It was published at http://in.rediff.com/news/2005/oct/03sw.htm

Chennai, the city of auto majors Ford, Hyundai, BMW, Ashok Leyland. Chennai, the city of software majors TCS, Wipro, Infosys, Xansa.
Chennai, the city of several engineering colleges and thousands of engineering students.
Chennai, the city where the country's first six-lane information technology expressway is under construction.
Chennai, the city of the Big Brother.

Scene One

A park in Chennai. A young teenage boy and a girl are sitting on a bench munching peanuts. The distance between them slowly reduces, and the boy puts his hand on the girl's shoulder and draws her close to him. They are still talking and munching peanuts. No, they are not about to kiss, but their physical proximity is such that they can. That is, if Big Brother does not turn up. And he does.
The terrified kids jump up.
"What are you two doing here?" asks Big Brother.
"Nothing…" the boy stammers.
"Nothing? What nothing? You are doing something," Big Brother thunders.
"We were talking and eating peanuts," the boy's voice is barely audible.
"What? Can't you talk loudly?" Big Bother's voice is so loud that the two young things clasp hands in fright.
"Take your hands off her." Big Brother whacks the boy with his baton so hard that his eyes fill with tears. The girl has already started crying.
"No tears. No crying. Don't you know boys and girls are not supposed to sit so close to each other and hold hands in a public place?"
The boy wants to ask 'What's wrong in us sitting close and holding hands?'
"Don't say she's your girl friend?"
The boy nods.
"Girlfriend and boyfriend? What is this world coming to? Come on, get into the jeep. I am taking you two into custody."
Moral of the story: If you are in Chennai, never sit on a park bench with your girlfriend or boyfriend. And, most importantly, never hold hands. It is not part of the great Chennai Culture.

Scene 2

A party in the discotheque of a luxury hotel. Loud chatter, louder music. Couples dancing merrily on the floor. The music gets louder and the dancers more passionate. Bodies intertwine. Soon, some lips lock.
Enter Big Brother on the dance floor.
"Stop!" his voice booms, but the music is too loud. He keeps shouting, but no one can hear him. He rushes towards the DJ console and terrorises the DJ into stopping the music.
The romantic world of the couples shatters.
Big Brother jumps onto a chair and shouts, "What's this? What's going on here? Don't you have any respect for this great city, and its great culture?"
"What's he saying?" A woman whispers as she comes out of the trance.
"You people better listen to me. This is a great city..."
"How many times will he say that?" Another woman laughs.
"The culture of the city is so great that here, no woman and man should hug each other in public, nobody should dance like mad people. You should learn to dance Bharata Natyam. That's our culture, and not this. Here, no man and woman kiss each other in a public place."
"This is not a public place. This is a hotel, and this is a dance floor," an angry young man shouts back.
"I will arrest you for insulting our great culture. No man and woman should kiss in a hotel even if they are husband and wife. You will be arrested if you do that. Today, I, the Big Brother, forgive you," he jumps off the chair and walks away.
Moral of the story: In Chennai, you should not go to a dance party unless it is Bharata Natyam. You should not kiss your spouse even if you are dancing the Bharata Natyam. You should respect the great culture and traditions of the city.

Scene 3

An engineering college campus. Three students are summoned to the principal's room to appear before a panel of five teachers whose duty is to question 'immoral' students and punish them. The students' fault; they are wearing short, sleeveless tops and tight jeans, and they were caught talking to boys.
"What kind of dress are you wearing? Were you seducing the boys when we caught you? Don't come crying to us if you get raped. If you dress like this, anything can happen. Remember, this kind of indecent dress is not allowed in this city and in this college, understand? Now, go home and get Rs 500 as fine for wearing sleeveless top and tight jeans. If you want good jobs in good companies, you should learn to dress properly, and also learn not to flirt with boys," The teachers shout at the girls.
Once the girls are done with, five boys are called in. They also undergo a dressing down for 'wearing dark coloured shirts,' 'talking to girls' and 'flirting with them'.
"You people will never see even the gates of an IT company," the jury declares.
Moral of the story: If you are an engineering student in Chennai, you should dress 'decently' and never talk to the opposite sex. That is, if you want a good job in a good company.

Scene 4

Angry women demonstrating -- with brooms and flip flops -- in front of a movie actress' house. The women shout unprintable abuses, spit on the gate, burn her effigy.
In an interview, the actress had advised people of the city to have safe sex. She had pooh poohed the idea of pre-marital virginity as an essential virtue.
"You dirty woman, you insulted our great culture. How dare you live here? We will banish you to the Andamans," roars the mob.
Moral of the story: If you are a woman living in Chennai, a city that has Big Brothers who flaunt their several wives/mistresses as proof of their wealth and social status, never talk about sex, sexually transmitted diseases, HIV, AIDS, condoms or virginity.

Scene 5

The bedroom of a newlywed couple. It is an unusually cool night, and passion is running high. As they are about to kiss, the voice of Big Brother booms.
"Stop!"
They stop in mid-kiss. "But why? We are husband and wife. We are not in a park. We are not on the dance floor of a hotel. We are in our bedroom. Can't we have some privacy in here too?"
"No, Big Brother is watching you. You should abstain from sex today."
"But why?" The couple dare to question the Big Brother.
"Today is Thursday, the day of abstinence." Big Brother announces.
"Can we have at least one kiss?" they plead.
"No kiss today. You can kiss on Mondays and Wednesdays and can have sex on Fridays and Sundays. This is Big Brother's order. Remember, Big Brother is watching."
****
No, this is not an adaptation of George Orwell's 1984. This is 2005, and the city is Chennai.
Yes, Chennai, the city that has blah blah blah.
